CKNZ is fortunate to have a great culture and support amongst our members who want to just get out there and have some fun and enjoy the experience of spending time with like-minded people. CKNZ works hard to ensure we maintain all the positive aspects we represent and to make our events enjoyable and memorable.
We do however have some obligations to KartSport NZ and our members on how we manage our events, so this pre-event briefing is designed to give you as much information as possible about our event protocols without it being a chore to read.
This briefing does not constitute the official drivers briefing which you will be required to attend before going onto the track. You are however required to review the Tony Wallace Supplementary Rules and Information Sheet as sent out earlier in September.

General Information
• Before going onto the track, you must have completed one of the CKNZ blue entry cards ensuring you sign the back page and have handed your card into the race secretary
• You must have also paid your entry fee to the host club and your $5 CKNZ club event fee
• Please ensure you have a fire extinguisher in your trailer or pit, this is a KartSport NZ requirement. This must be at least 1 x 2.5kg dry powder specification 3A:40B:E.
• We also recommend you have a small first aid kit in your trailer or pit. The club has purchased a very large first responder first aid kit and there will also be the CKNZ defibrillator at the meeting.
• If you stop on the track, please, if practicable to do so, move your kart to a safe place. Also ensure you move away from your kart to a safe place and remain there until all karts are off the track. No trolleys are allowed on the track until the track is clear of karts.
• Karts waiting to enter the track cannot do so until the recovery operation is completed. The push/recovery bike will only enter the track once the track is clear.
• Smoking is not permitted in the pit area.
• Ensure all your safety devices are in a clean, tidy and current state, this includes your helmet, overalls, gloves and footwear. Also remember that rib protectors are now mandatory. You will not be allowed on the track until you are wearing one.
• Random scrutineering will occur across the duration of the event.
• Grid positions – self-starting karts will be in the right-hand pit lane, Karts requiring a push start will be in the left-hand pit lane. The push bike cannot go onto the track during the starting process.
• Based on the track we may require track-based flag points for safety reasons, please be prepared to help if required. (i.e. top of the hill at Tokoroa).
• Track direction: Saturday – anti-clockwise / Sunday – Clockwise
• Due to the Manawatu track resource consent no engines are permitted to be started on Friday, Saturday or Sunday before 9.00am and all must be shut off by 5.00pm.
Behaviour:
CKNZ and KSNZ have zero tolerance for poor behaviour, whether you are a driver, guardian, crew or spectator. Respect is to be shown to all fellow drivers, officials, supporters or volunteers
Flags
• Red Flag – In the case of a red flag all drivers are to cease the demonstration and return to the pits at a largely reduced speed. While doing so please be cautious as there may be people on the track offering assistance at the red flag incident.
• Yellow Flag -the yellow flag will be shown if there is a need for caution in the case of someone entering the track from the pits or there has been an incident where caution is required.
• Black & White Flag – this flag will be shown at the end of your timed session which will generally be approximately 10 minutes.
In Closing
Please enjoy the event and if you need any assistance reach out to one of the Classic team or a Manawatu official and we will do our best to help you out.
And if you have any ideas on how we can improve things then please let us know.
Cheers
CKNZ Committee
